These 45 minute, confidential one-to-one career appointments are available with an experienced career coach to help you further your career.

About this event

These ONLINE sessions are available to PGRs and early career research staff (i.e., research assistants, postdoctoral researchers, early career research fellows, research technicians) from the University of Liverpool. When registering for this event please ensure you use your University email address as non-University email registrations will be removed due to capacity restrictions, thank you.

Please note, only one booking per person is available for 1:1 Career Coaching (either online or in-person). Duplicate bookings will be deleted.

Joining details will be sent 2 days and 2 hours before the session begins to the email address you registered with.

These career coaching sessions will be delivered by experience career coaching experts who can support your career development needs.

The services available on this session include:

  • Discussion of career plans.
  • Helping identify future career options.
  • Giving you an understanding of yourself from a career and work perspective.
  • Personal feedback on written applications (CVs, covering letters or application forms).
  • Practice interviews / interview preparation.

Presenter information:

Career Coach Names:

Alys Kay (she/her)

Alys is a career coach, and facilitator with over 10 years of experience in HE. Using a people-centered approach to problem solving, she has helped hundreds of individuals, groups and organisations meet their goals and better serve their stakeholders.

Denise Chilton (she/her)

Denise Chilton is a career coach and leadership development facilitator. She has been supporting researchers and the academic community at the University of Liverpool for over 10 years so knows only too well the challenges faced by researchers.

A career coach on the Prosper pilot, she has been providing group and individual coaching programmes for postdocs and Early Career Academics since 2015 helping them to feel more confident, better manage their time, be more productive and develop their interpersonal skills.

In 2017, she won the Northern Power Woman Mentor of the Year Award for her work supporting women in STEM. She has worked with Faculties across the University delivering initiatives that have supported the Athena Swan Charter.

Elizabeth Adams (she/her)

Elizabeth is a coach and consultant with over 15 years' experience in researcher development. Her main focus is on academic leadership / career coaching and research culture. She has also worked as an innovation consultant, brokering partnerships between large engineering companies and SMEs or researchers, and as an analytical chemist in the Pharma industry.

Elizabeth brings a strong understanding of how support and interventions at individual, team and organisational level can help to embed a culture of creativity, innovation and collaboration, where people can grow and develop.
